If you’ve made it to Kirkenes, a town in Sør-Varanger Municipality in Finnmark county, in the far northeastern part of Norway, you’ve come far far into the arctic. Right on the board of the very top of Norway and Russia, you will find signs in both languages.

Even though you might have already seen your share of snow, or maybe you’ve been cruising along the coast on the famous Hurtigruten, if you can stand one more night, you might want to check out the Snowhotel.

One of two snow and ice hotels in Norway, the other in Alta, this is a unique experience that shouldn’t be missed! Cuddle with with a loved one or have a memorable stay with friends or family.

At the very least you can stop by, have some aquavit, their national liquor,  and feed the cute reindeer.
